Christmas with The Madrids

I am a big fan of family Holidays...but we just don't seem to get together like we used to. Both of my sisters tend to go to their Husband's family gathering more often than not. This year I decided to plan a Holiday get together with both of my sisters. Laura surprised me with a trip to The Gaylord resort in Grapevine to see the Grinch Ice Exhibit. The Gaylord is a huge resort just outside of Dallas. It is a remarkable place with tons of shops, 6 world class restaurants, and a river walk inside the lobby! The entire place was decorated to the nines with several enormous Christmas trees, a toy train set up that would make any train lover jealous, poinsettias every where, snow and wreaths and the most amazing Ice sculpture exhibit.

This year the Ice exhibit theme was How the Grinch stole Christmas, and it was amazing! Laura and I both spent a lot of time taking pictures, while Tres and Mia played all over the ice! They even had a giant Ice slide that the kids had a blast on! After the ice exhibit Laura and Rick treated me to a very nice dinner at wonderful Mexican restaurant inside the Gaylord. I still can't eat solid foods but I did have a great tortilla soup and a bite of Mom's Creme Brule!! It was a wonderful evening and I am so glad I got to spend some time with the Madrid's before they head to Midland for Christmas.
