Giving Back

Several months ago the Student Government at my college decided to help raise money for the American Cancer Society and do the 12 hour overnight walk, Relay for life. I have never really been a part of any kind of charity work before so I was really looking forward to this event.I have had a couple of family members that have dealt with Cancer and also have a couple of friends that are current cancer Survivors, so I was happy to help. We had a bake sale, I made gift baskets to raffle off,and we all begged donations from family and friends. Together, the 8 of us we raised over $1,600! Last night was the walk, it started out as a very nice day then turned cold and windy by 1am, but we stuck it out and really had a good time.James, and I walked for 8 hours at least...only taking short potty and snack breaks. It was a Great felling to know that we gave something back even if it was just our time and the well-being of our feet! The event was a lot of fun and very moving.I am very sore and tired today but would do it all over again!
